Deputy Executive Director

The Nueces River Authority is seeking an energetic, motivated individual to serve as Deputy Executive Director. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director (ED) and office in the Authority’s Headquarters located by statute in Uvalde, Texas. This position will work closely with the Executive Director in directing all aspects of the Authority’s operations, with the intention of transitioning into the upper position upon the Executive Director’s retirement in 2 to 3 years. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, public or business administration, finance or other related fields and 10 years’ related experience in a governmental organization. Deputy Executive Director

PLANNER 1

The Nueces River Authority (NRA) is seeking an energetic, motivated individual to join our team as a Planner I. The successful candidate will work in our Coastal Bend Office under the general supervision of the Director of Planning.  This position develops studies and reports in support of new and updated plans, programs, and regulations, and presents detailed reports on proposals to government bodies.  Other duties include evaluating and assisting in the evaluation of grants, funding opportunities, and other proposals, and upon request, acts as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, and elected officials in proposing the Authority’s plans.

Our ideal candidate is someone who will be able to enthusiastically help our organization with their knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, research, and data collection, effective writing techniques, and familiarity with environmental assessment processes, with a basic understanding of grant administration and regulatory compliance.  Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, or a related field.  A Class “C” Texas driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the Authority’s current insurance provider is a requirement.  NRA offers an excellent salary and fringe benefits package along with opportunities for advancement.  Email resume to cgonzales@nueces-ra.org.

Water Quality Data Entry Specialist (Part-time)

The Nueces River Authority (NRA) is seeking an energetic, motivated individual to be a part-time member of our Water Quality Team.  The successful applicants will work under the direction of the Water Quality Manager, compiling data of laboratory analysis, inputting text based and numerical information from source documents within time limits.  Reviews data for deficiencies for errors, corrects any incompatibilities, and generates reports.  This position will also assist the water quality team with sample collection as needed.  Please email cgonzales@nueces-ra.org for information and application.

Flood Plain Adminstrator

The Nueces River Authority is seeking an energetic, qualified individual for the position of Flood Plain Administrator. This full-time position offers a competitive salary, with excellent benefits and opportunities for career advancement. Minimum qualifications – knowledge of principles and practices of flood plan management, personal computer, and software skills, and FEMA policies and procedures. Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: two to three years’ experience in flood plain management and development permitting in a governmental office, and a combination of education and experience. Each two years of experience in an office environment may substitute for one year of education. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a CFM certification from the Texas Floodplain Management Association or the ability to obtain one within one year of hire. Operator Systems: Certified Water/Wastewater Operator

The Nueces River Authority has current openings for all levels of license water/wastewater operators. Successful candidates will be full-time employees and assigned to one or more systems at various locations in rural areas within the Basin of the Nueces River.
