Operator Systems: Certified Water/Wastewater Operator - Central Basin

The Nueces River Authority has current openings for license water/wastewater operator. Experienced candidate with either a class “A” or “B” license is preferred. Successful candidate with be full-time employee and assigned to one or more systems at the various locations in the Choke Canyon Lake area. Assistant Director of Utilities

The Nueces River Authority is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Assistant Director of Utilities.  This full-time position offers an individual a competitive salary, with excellent benefits and opportunities for  career advancement.

Minimum qualifications

  • Knowledge of fundamentals of water/wastewater treatment, mathematics, physics, state, and federal regulations governing municipal utilities, and the treatment and transmission of water/wastewater.
  • Knowledge of TCEQ quality regulations, inspection protocols, best practices, and compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance and repair for water/wastewater facilities.
  • Knowledge of principles of design and construction of water/wastewater facilities and projects.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of administrative management including personnel rules, cost accounting, budgeting, procurement, contract management, project management and employee supervision.   
  • Principles of Information Technology, including Geographic Information Systems.

License and Certification Requirements

A valid Texas State Driver’s License is required.  Class “B” Water and Wastewater Licenses from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is required, Class A Licenses are preferred. 

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or Associates’ degree from (2) two-year college or equivalent plus four years’ experience.  Each two years’ experience in a similar environment may substitute for one year of education.  For additional information or to apply, submit resume with cover letter to lflores@nueces-ra.org.

Water Quality Data Specialist

The Nueces River Authority (NRA) is seeking energetic, motivated, applicants for the position of Water Quality Data Specialist.  The successful applicant will be assigned to NRA’s Coastal Bend Office and work under the direction of the Director of Water Quality.  Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in aquatic biology, chemistry, environmental studies, or related field.  A combination of demonstrated experience and education comparable to a bachelor’s degree is acceptable.  A Class “C” Texas Drivers Licenses with a driving record acceptable to the Authority’s current insurance provider is a requirement.  NRA offers an excellent salary and fringe benefits package along with opportunities for advancement.  Email resume to lflores@nueces-ra.org.

Utility Billing & Data Entry Clerk

The Nueces River Authority is currently searching for a Utility Billing & Data Entry Clerk. The position will be assigned to work onsite in our General Office in Uvalde, Texas. Successful candidates will have excellent organizational, public relations, customer service skills and proper telephone etiquette concerning complaints.  Must have advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and other standard software to create complex documents and materials requiring the interpretation and manipulation of data.  Must be outcome oriented.  The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail is essential. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent with excellent computer skills.  Associate degree in Business/Accounting or related field; minimum of three years of experience in customer service, general office procedures, accounting, and proficient computer skills.  Experience in government setting is highly desirable.
